Jumbangla Desk: RAB has arrested the killer driver Anwar Hossain in connection with the death of three people including a mother and son in a bus accident in Begumganj in Noakhali. On Tuesday (October 29) around 8:30 pm, Company Commander (Acting) of RAB-11's Noakhali Camp, Golam Morshed, confirmed the matter.
Earlier, Anwar was arrested from Bismillah Road area of Chandraganj Union of Laxmipur Sadar Upazila. Anwar is the son of deceased Basir Ulya of Mohammadnagar village in Mandari union of the same upazila.
According to RAB, on the morning of August 3, three passengers of a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw were killed in a crash of a Star Line bus in Lakshmi Narayanpur Shop Ghar area of Durgapur Union on Begumganj-Feni Regional Highway. The deceased are autorickshaw driver Jasim Uddin (55), his mother Tahera Begum (75) and elder cousin Salimullah's wife Kohinur Begum (45). They are residents of Chadu Bepari house in Durgapur Union of Begumganj.
The killer bus was heading towards Laxmipur from Feni. On reaching the spot, the driver took the bus in the opposite direction as the road was narrow. In this, the buschapa and the autorickshaw twists and turns. Immediately after the incident, the killer driver left the bus and fled.
RAB-11 Noakhali Camp Company Commander (Acting) Golam Morshed said that the killer driver Anwar was identified through surveillance. Finally he was arrested and handed over to Chandraganj Highway Police for further legal action.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandraganj Highway Police Station Ruhul Amin said, RAB arrested the accused in the case of killing three people in Chaschapa in Begumganj and handed them over to us. He will be handed over to the Noakhali court.
