Jumbangla Desk: District Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Advocate Ataur Rahman Bachchu was attacked while announcing his candidacy for Narail-2 seat.
But
'Election against Mashrafe Bhai?' The leaders and activists of District Chhatra League (now a banned organization) attacked Jamaat leader Bachchu. District Jamaat secretary Obaidullah Qaiser was also attacked. On that day, BCL leaders tried to shoot them by putting pistols in their heads and faces.
Ataur Rahman Bachchu made such a complaint in a post on social media Facebook.
Narail District Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Advocate Ataur Rahman Bachchu recently posted a text on his Facebook ID referring to that terrible memory. In this, two top leaders of the district Jamaat have been accused of trying to kill, district Chhatra League general secretary Swapneel Shikder Neel and former president Ashrafuzzaman Mukul, among others.
Ataur Rahman Bachchu's Facebook post is highlighted:
Will you vote against Mashrafe's brother?
On October 20, 2022, I sat on the banks of the flowing Chitra river near the city at 9 pm while returning to the district headquarters from a Sirat Mahfil in Itna Union of Lohagara Upazila. After a while, I saw some young boys come and sit in front of me with cigarettes in their hands. A boy said, know me? I am district secretary of Chhatra League Neel. I said, oh well. Heard your name but never met you. Then he entered his Facebook ID and took out a picture of me and said, will you choose MP?
I said, yes, my organization has nominated me as a candidate. I will definitely do if the environment. He said, you do not register how to choose? I said, I hope to get the registration back, and if not, I will separate it. Then Mukul, the former secretary of the Chhatra League and some others got angry and started saying, I will vote against Mashrafe Bhai, so much courage comes from words, I have been looking for you for a long time but I can't find you. With this he took the phone from his hand and smashed it on the ground and took me from the tea shop and took me to a secluded place. In no time, injury after injury began. Mukul held his arms on his head and said, "Would you like to talk about the election?"
I said, I will try to implement the instructions given by my organization till my last breath. Meanwhile, District Secretary Obaidullah Bhai is trying to stop them by protesting strongly. Then they started attacking Obaidullah Bhai. At one point, he put a pistol in his mouth and tried to shoot. Another one hit Obaidullah Bhai on the head with the butt of a pistol. Things happened in no time before I knew it. Later they retreated in the face of resistance from local people and shopkeepers. I reached home with a bloody body and torn clothes. Only a few officials of the district knew about this incident. The atmosphere was such that if all the other public forces came to know, they might have been quick to take revenge and would have succumbed to the fury of the police administration and the Chhatra League. On that day I gave judgment only to the great Lord. Alhamdulillah, the achievement has been a little more than expected. Surely Allah is the Most Just Judge.
The head teacher Mizanur Rahman, who was an eyewitness of that day, said several shopkeepers said that they were at the scene. Jamaat District Amir Ataur Rahman Bachchu and Secretary Obaidullah Qaiser were drinking tea that night in the Chitra Bridge (Sheikh Russell Bridge) area. Suddenly, 10 to 15 boys including General Secretary Swapnil Shikder Neel and former president Ashrafuzzaman Mukul came there and beat them both and took them behind the bush. At one stage, Ataur Rahman Bachchu and Obaidullah raised pistols to shoot Qaiser. At that time local people came forward and saved them. District Chhatra League leaders left the scene.
Meanwhile, when asked whether any legal action will be taken against those involved in the incident, District Jamaat Amir Ataur Rahman Bachchu said, "A decision will be taken later."
District BNP general secretary Monirul Islam recently said in an interview on a private TV channel, 'District Chhatra League general secretary Swapnil Shikder Neel, former general secretary Niloy Roy Bandhan, former president Ashrafuzzaman Mukul and others attacked and vandalized my (Monirul) house several times. The former MP of Narail-2 Constituency Mashrafe bin Mortuza was informed about this but he did not pay any attention.
However, Mashrafe Bin Mortuza's statement was not found regarding these allegations. Apart from this, the General Secretary of the District Chhatra League Swapneel Shikder Neel and others were also not available. Since the anti-discrimination student movement, Chhatra League leaders have gone into hiding. Several cases have been filed in their name along with Mashrafe.
However, General Secretary of District Chhatra League Swapneel Sikder Neil and former President Ashrafuzzaman Mukul told a media, "The Facebook post of District Jamaat Amir is not correct. They are not involved in this incident.'
