International desk: 225 migrants have reached the coast of the United Kingdom by crossing the English Channel in a small boat from the northern coast of France.

The UK Home Office said 225 migrants arrived on British shores on October 27 in four small boats. In total, the number of migrants crossing the Channel from the French coast to the UK this year is now close to 30,000.

On the same day, 56 migrants lost their lives in the English Channel this year with the death of an Indian national.

French authorities said in a statement that at around 5:30 a.m. local time on that day, a group of migrants set off in a small boat from the coast of the western town of Tardinhain, 25 kilometers from the coast, towards the UK.

The boat met with an accident shortly after the journey. Everyone in the boat fell into the water. All the migrants swam back to the beach. Of course, not all of them had life jackets.

At that time, a 40-year-old Indian immigrant suffered a cardiac arrest. He was quickly treated by French rescue services. In the end it was not possible to save the person. French authorities have launched a judicial investigation into the incident.

Earlier, three migrants died when a boat capsized in the English Channel on October 23. On that day, NGOs working on refugee rights said that English Channel deaths have now become a regular occurrence. But there is no opportunity to take or accept these incidents of loss of human life as normal.

The UK Home Office is repeating its old words. A spokesperson for the Home Ministry said efforts to break the business model of human traffickers are ongoing and under no circumstances will traffickers be spared.

The ministry said that a total of 29,578 migrants have crossed the Channel and reached the UK so far this year. And a total of 29 thousand 437 immigrants came to the country during the entire period of 2023.
