It is known that this rare animal was caught in the cage of a rat trap. Later it is stored in another big cage. Some call the extinct creature Tal Khatash, some call it Bhodar, and some call it Cyrel. Mainly the habitat of this animal is in forests and old vegetation. Its body emits the smell of rice. Hence it is called Gandagokul. Although popular on YouTube and Facebook, the number of Gandagokul is decreasing day by day due to the decrease in vegetation. People of different ages flocked to see the animal in Pakdi area of ​​Ward No. 7 of Madaripur municipality. After receiving information, the forest department officials went to the spot on Wednesday afternoon and took the animal. They said to release it in zoo or Khulna forest area.

 

Local resident Md. Farooq Mia said, 'We have never seen the rare animal before. So I came to see. Later I searched on YouTube and saw that it is known as Gaddagokul.'


Sijan Islam Rafi, a school student, said, 'I had seen such an animal in the zoo and on YouTube before. We know it as Bhodar. After hearing the news that the animal was captured, I came to see it with my friends. I am having a lot of fun here.'

Farmer Monir Talukder, who rescued the rare animal, said, 'It was seen in Pakdi area 8-10 days ago. The animal is also seen roaming in the surrounding gardens. Since then, various attempts have been made to trap Gandagokul in the rat cage. Later it was handed over to the officials of the forest department.'

Social Forest Department Madaripur office garden gardener Md. Humayun Kabir said, 'At one time there were many Gandagokul animals, but now they are no longer seen. Monir Talukdar rescued it. The animal is currently being taken to the Madaripur office, later it will be released in the zoo or Khulna forest after talking to the higher officials.'

It should be noted that earlier on January 7, 2022, the local residents recovered another Gandagokul from West Baligram of Dasar Upazila. Later, the animal was released from the Khulna forest area through the administration and forest officials.
