Jumbala Desk: Morning-evening road blockade program is going on in protest against the killing of three workers of the regional organization United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) in Khagrachari.
Since Thursday (October 31) morning, supporters of the blockade have been picketing in different upazilas of the district by throwing tree trunks on the roads and lighting fires. However, no untoward incidents have been reported so far.
It has been seen on the ground that due to the blockade, long-distance traffic between Khagrachari and Dhaka, Chittagong and Rangamati has been stopped. However, easybikes and motorcycles are plying in the city.
In this regard, Khagrachari Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Baten Mridha told the media that additional police have been deployed at various important points to avoid untoward incidents during the siege. Night coaches from different parts of the country entered the city early in the morning.
Incidentally, on Wednesday (October 30) morning, 3 UPDF workers were shot dead by miscreants in Panchari of the district. In protest against the killing, the organization announced a morning-evening road blockade program in Khagrachari district today.
