Jumbangla Desk: The campaign against polyethylene and polypropylene manufacturing factories will start next Sunday (November 3).

Tapan Kumar Biswas, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, said this during an operation to stop the use of banned polythene shopping bags in the capital's Mohammadpur Agricultural Market on Friday (November 1).

He said, mobile courts will be conducted against the manufacturers nationwide to ban polythene.

Earlier, 7 to 8 members of the Monitoring Committee of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, led by Tapan Kumar Biswas, conducted an expedition to the Mohammadpur Agricultural Market around 10 am.

At this time, common people coming to the market are requested to use jute and cloth bags instead of polythene. At the same time, shopkeepers have been instructed to stop using polythene bags and strict action will be taken if polythene bags are found in the next operation, he said.

Before this, measures were taken to stop the use of polythene and polypropylene bags in supershops from October 1. Most supershops are now using jute, paper and cloth bags instead of polythene. The products are being given to the customers in those bags.
