Jumbangla Desk: Around 36 thousand pieces of used cigarette stamps were found in a goat farm in Chittagong. Apart from this, two and a half lakh pieces of fake cigarette bandrolls were seized.

On Thursday (October 31), the warehouses and goat farms owned by Vijay International Tobacco were excavated and seized in Chairman Para area of Chakaria upazila of Cox's Bazar district.
Chittagong Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate notification informed that based on information received from secret sources, this operation was conducted in the warehouse and goat farm owned by Vijay International Tobacco Limited in Farm Chairman Para area of Chakoria Upazila. The anti-smuggling operation was conducted by the anti-smuggling team led by the joint commissioner in charge of the headquarters of Chittagong Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate.
In this expedition, used cigarette stamps and used cigarette bandrolls wrapped in foil paper were found by digging up the soil in the goat farm. In the presence of Kamruzzaman Swapan, 36 lakh 24 thousand pieces of used cigarette stamps and 2.5 lakh pieces of fake cigarette bandrolls were seized.
Using the said bandrolls would have resulted in revenue evasion of about Rs.15 crores. Proceedings are underway to take action against the institution under the Special Powers Act. Such operations will continue to prevent smuggling.
