International Desk: The United States government has banned 398 individuals and organizations from more than 12 countries.

The ban was imposed on Wednesday (October 30), according to a report by the Associated Press (AP).

According to the report, this step was taken to avoid the pressure of US sanctions imposed for the aggression of Russia in Ukraine. As part of this, hundreds of individuals and institutions have been banned.

According to the US Treasury and State Department, the list includes individuals and organizations from more than 12 countries.

A US State Department official said the move was the most coordinated crackdown yet on third-country sanctions evasion. Several Chinese, Hong Kong and Indian companies are on the banned list. Most of those under sanctions are individuals and organizations from these countries. Besides, there are companies from Russia, United Arab Emirates, Türkiye, Thailand, Malaysia, Switzerland and other countries.

The US Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on 274 individuals and entities, and the State Department has imposed sanctions on more than 120 individuals and entities, Reuters reported. In addition, the Commerce Department added 40 companies and research institutions to a trade sanctions list for their alleged support of Russia's military.

The United States and our allies will continue to take decisive action around the world to stop the flow of equipment and technology needed by Russia to wage its illegal and immoral war against Ukraine, Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo said in a statement.

Liu Pengyu, a spokesman for China's Washington embassy, said Beijing firmly opposes illegal and unreasonable unilateral sanctions. The Russian and Indian embassies in Washington did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Apart from this, the Turkish government also refused to comment on this matter.
