In the Geneva camp of Mohammadpur of the capital, two sides of the drug dealers have lost their lives again. Four people have been arrested in this late night incident on Thursday, the army said.

Mohammadpur police station OC Ali Iftekhar Hasan said that a person named Raja died in a clash between drug dealers at around 3 pm.

This 28-year-old youth is a member of the Bunia Sohail group of drug dealers. RAB arrested Bunia Sohail from a hotel in Sylhet on Thursday.

Mohammadpur OC Iftekhar said that after Bunia Sohail's arrest, when his opponent Chua Salim tried to take control of the entire area, Bunia Sohail's people prevented him from doing so. This led to a clash between the two sides at midnight.

He said that during the conflict, both sides tried to attack the opponent by throwing bullets and bombs. At that time, the king died on the spot due to the bomb.

Police officer Iftekhar said that the police have been patrolling the camp regularly.

He said that after hearing the news of the disturbance, a raid was conducted in Sector 7 of the camp from 11:00 am to 1:00 am on Thursday. The collision took place at around 3 o'clock in the night after we came out.

Sherbangla Nagar and Bachila army camp said that the army personnel went to the spot immediately after the incident and conducted an operation. Sensing their presence, the drug dealers fled in different directions.

At this time, four people were arrested. Various narcotics including 40 yabas were recovered from them. Of these four, two are Chua Salim, while the other two are members of the Picchi Raja group. However, their names have not been disclosed.

The conflict over the Geneva camp's takeover of the drug trade is long-standing. However, the two sides have been engaged in a deadly conflict since last July amid the country's instability.

After the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, the looted firearms from the police station were added to their conflict. At least five people, including Raja, have lost their lives in the conflict there in the last three months.

Residents of the camp said that a few years ago, the control of the drug trade of the entire camp was in the hands of two youths named Nadeem Hossain alias Panchchish and Ishtiaq. Both had made huge fortunes in the drug trade, leading private armies.

In July 2018, Panchish was killed in RAB's 'crossfire' in Purbachal. Then Ishtiaq fled to India. Rumor has it in the camp that he died of covid during the pandemic. Since then Ishtiaq and Panchish's competition for possession of the drug empire started, which has now turned into a bloody fight.
