Own Correspondent, Gazipur: A case has been registered in Gazipur's Sreepur police station in connection with two laborers being tied to a tree and beaten with salt and pepper powder on their wounds for allegedly stealing an auto-rickshaw. On Friday (November 1), a victim of torture filed the case as a plaintiff .

A case was filed in the case of torture by tying two workers on the accusation of theft

Confirming this, Sreepur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zainal Abedin Mondal said that six people have been accused in this case.

On Tuesday, the incident of torture of two laborers on the accusation of theft took place in Abdar village of Telihati union of Sripur upazila of Gazipur. Later the incident spread on social media.

The victims of torture are Alamgir Hossain (26) son of Achim Uddin of that village and Mainuddin Sohel (26) son of Joynal Abedin of Vatadia village of Sonagazi Upazila of Feni.

The accused in the case are Faizuddin (40) son of deceased Yusuf Ali of Abdar village and his wife Rima Akhtar (35), their two daughters Tumpa Akhtar (22) and Promi Akhtar (20), locals Shakeel (27) and Mostafa (30). The detailed identity of Mustafa was not found among them. The accused are absconding since the incident.


In the statement of the case, the plaintiff mentioned that after leaving the factory at 6 am after the night duty on Tuesday (October 29), Faizuddin and other defendants forced them into an auto rickshaw. Later, they took them inside the Ghazari forest near the local Kasempur market, tied them to a tree and beat them with iron rods and sticks. At one stage they asked to confess about stealing the autorickshaw. Failing to do so, the workers were brought in front of Faizuddin's house in Avdar Bazar area, tied to a tree and tortured again and sprinkled with salt and pepper powder on the wounds. The accused then took a bicycle from the laborer Alamgir Hossain and 30,000 rupees from the elder brother of Mainuddin Sohail and left.

The OC of Sreepur police station said that the accused are absconding since the incident. The operation to arrest them is continuing.
