BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the people will decide on banning any political party. He said, the people will decide who we are to ban the political party. This is another plot started. These incidents are being done to start an uncertainty and instability in the country again. Those that are not issued are being issued. I think everyone needs to be aware and alert about it.

Mirza Fakhrul said these things in response to the questions of journalists at the memorial meeting of Sabih Uddin Ahmed, the former adviser and diplomat of the BNP Chairperson, in Mohakhali of the capital on Saturday. Sabih Uddin Ahmed's illustrious life-work was highlighted by his colleagues.

Salahuddin Ahmed, the interim government's finance and trade adviser, said Sabih Uddin was a real nationalist. There is no compromise on the question of country and people. He was uncompromising. Such people are hard to find. We pray for his family.

Reminiscing, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, Sabih and I who started student politics. We had one goal - to change this society, to change it. That was not possible at that time, Sabih left for government service. He never deviated from that goal even if he went to government service. Wherever Sabih was, he worked for the country, worked for the people. What I remember most is when he worked with our Madam Begum Khaleda Zia. Then I saw that he worked with the most responsibility.

BNP secretary general said that during the regime of Sheikh Hasina, the government was harassed and persecuted, there was also a fierce attack on her at that time. Riaz Rahman was shot, Sabih Uddin Ahmed's car was burnt, another person was also attacked. We have passed these times. He has come out of various arrests so many times, it is hard for us to see him go. It is painful to those of us who were together. I was shocked to see Sabihar's picture here.

Mirza Fakhrul said, Sabih fought till the end, he was not one to break down. If he were today, he would be most happy to see Bangladesh free from fascism.

Professor Mahbub Ullah said, Sabih thought about the country till the last day, he thought about the ten. He did not compromise on the question of patriotism. I will believe that Sabih Uddin Ahmed has become a resident of Paradise. Allah gave him the highest place in paradise.

The memorial meeting was organized by the late diplomat's family at the BRAC Center conference hall in Mohakhali of the capital. On October 31, 2022, Sabih Uddin Ahmed died under treatment at the United Hospital in Gulshan. He was 76 years old at the time of his death.
