The robbers took control of the bus after cutting and injuring the driver-supervisor of the long-distance transport in Dhamrai. At this time, two robbers were killed by the crowd while attacking the passengers and looting everything.
The incident took place in a moving bus in Belishwar village of Dhamrai upazila around 7:30 am on Saturday.
It is known that the incident started from Kaddar junction of Sirajganj district.
10 people including bus driver Haroon Or Rashid, supervisor Momin Mia were injured in the attack by miscreants. The injured have been admitted to various hospitals and clinics.
According to the assistants and passengers of the bus, a passenger bus named Islam Parivan left Thakurgaon for Dhaka with 43 passengers on Friday night. When the bus arrived at Kaddar junction in Sirajganj, seven robbers boarded the ticket and boarded it around 4 am.
Later, when the bus reached the empty area of Elenga in Tangail, the robbers took control of the bus by stabbing the bus driver and supervisor. After that, they attacked the passengers with domestic sharp weapons and robbed them of gold ornaments, cash and mobile phones. Around 10 people were injured at this time. One of the dacoits drove the bus from Mirzapur to the Dhamrai-Saturia regional highway.
Then the bus could not proceed further due to a broken culvert in Belishwar Palpara area while going from Mahishashi to Bathuli bus stand on Dhaka-Aricha highway via Sholadhan.
At that time, two robbers were caught by the locals and handed over to the police while the group of robbers stopped the bus and escaped. The other robbers escaped.
A passenger named Tamim Hossain said that some passengers disguised themselves as robbers, hit the driver and supervisor with sharp weapons and looted everything including gold ornaments, money and mobile phones from the passengers.
Sohag Islam, assistant of the bus, said that a few passengers got up from Kaddar intersection in Sirajganj disguised as robbers. Then Elenga came to the empty space and took control of the bus by hitting the driver on the forehead with a sharp weapon. After that, they beat the passengers and took everything hostage.
Officer-in-charge of Dhamrai police station Monirul Islam said that two robbers were arrested and brought to the police station after receiving information from local residents. Legal action has been taken in this incident.
