6 factories in Gazipur announced to be closed for an indefinite period

The closed factories are - Tusuka Jeans Limited, Tusuka Trousers Limited, Tusuka Processing Limited, Tusuka Packaging Limited, Tusuka Denim Limited and Tusuka Washing Limited.


According to the factory authority notice, last Saturday a group of workers along with unidentified outsiders started an illegal strike on unreasonable demands. That morning the workers left the workplace and gathered at the main gate of the factory and created unrest. The authorities and law enforcers repeatedly urged the workers to return to work, but they ignored it. A section of workers exhibits unstable behavior. Such actions by workers are considered illegal strikes under Bangladesh Labor Act 2006. 6 factories operated under Tusuka Group have been declared closed indefinitely from Sunday morning (November 3) as the safety of factory officials, employees and property is threatened by such activities of the workers.


In this regard, Tusuka Group has informed that the next decision regarding the re-opening of the factories will be announced when the situation is under control and the work environment is created again.


Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police of Gazipur Industrial Police-2 Konabari Zone. Abu Taleb said that although the factory authorities accepted several demands of the workers, they did not join the work. Due to which the authorities have issued a notice announcing the closure of the factory for an indefinite period.

The workers said that Hazira had raised various demands regarding attendance bonus, night bill, tiffin bill and other facilities. However, the issue of going on strike without consulting the authorities has become controversial.
