Recently, India's Adani Power Jharkhand Limited has reduced electricity supply to Bangladesh by half. It is said that they took this decision after not getting the due bills on time. Randhir Jaiswal was asked about this in the briefing of the Ministry of External Affairs of India.

He said that the Indian government has no role in the issue between the Bangladesh government and Adani Power Limited. It is an agreement between a non-governmental organization and the government of Bangladesh. So I have no information on this.


According to Power Grid Bangladesh, the Adani plant stopped half of its power supply from midnight last Thursday. The 1,496 MW power plant is currently generating about 700 MW of electricity per unit, which has affected the national production. Earlier, they had written to the Power Secretary asking the Bangladesh Power Development Board (PDB) to pay the outstanding bills by October 30.

Otherwise, it warned that supply may be stopped from October 31, 2024.

According to the latest information, the dues of Adani have not been paid till now. Due to this, the authorities of the center reduced the power supply.
