International Desk: The country's law and order forces have arrested 21 thousand 370 people in Saudi Arabia on charges of illegal residence, employment law and border law violation.
On Sunday (November 3), the Saudi Ministry of Interior reported this information in a report of Arab News.
Under the 'A Country Without Violence' policy, Saudi Arabia conducts regular crackdowns against illegal immigrants. This special operation was carried out in different areas of Saudi Arabia in the last week of October.
According to the Saudi law enforcement agency, among those detained, 12,274 were arrested for illegal residence, 5,684 for violating border laws and 3,412 for violating labor laws.
Besides, 1 thousand 492 people were detained while trying to enter Saudi Arabia illegally. Among them, 35 percent are Yemenis, 61 percent are Ethiopians and the remaining 4 percent are citizens of other countries.
Although it is not clear whether there are Bangladeshis among those arrested, local expatriates said that several people were arrested from the Batha area inhabited by Bangladeshis.
Saudi law and order forces have said that strict action will be taken against those who harbor and cooperate with violators of the law. It is part of the country's regular crackdown on illegal immigrants.
