Jumbangla Desk: New gas was found recently while renovating the old gas well (Sylhet-7) in Haripur of Jaintapur Upazila of Sylhet. If all goes well, eight and a half million cubic feet of gas will be supplied to the national grid today from that well.
On Monday (November 4), the managing director (MD) of Sylhet Gas Field Limited (SGFL) said. Mizanur Rahman confirmed this information to the media.
He said, today another 8.5 million cubic feet of gas is going to the national grid experimentally from well number 7.
It is known that this program will be officially inaugurated after noon today. It is expected to be attended by Secretary of Energy and Mineral Resources Department and Chairman of Petrobangla.
Earlier, this gas was found while renovating the old gas well (Sylhet-7) in Haripur of Jaintapur Upazila of Sylhet on October 22. After two rounds of tests, the Sylhet Gas Field Limited authorities confirmed the discovery of gas at a depth of 1,200 meters.
According to the information provided by them, in 1986 oil extraction started in Haripur Sylhet-7 well of Jaintapur. Which lasted until 1994. Then gas is extracted from that well. This time, two layers of gas were found in the old well.
Officials of Sylhet Gas Field Limited said that 130 million cubic feet of gas was being supplied to the national grid from Sylhet till now. It is increasing from today.
In this regard, Sylhet Gas Field Limited (SGFL) project director and DGM Abdul Jalil told the authoritative media that gas was found at two levels while renovating Haripur No. 7 well in Sylhet. Last October 22, another 8.5 million cubic feet of gas was found at a depth of 1,200 meters in that well. which is being connected to the national grid from today.
