After a meeting held at the Secretariat on Monday (November 4), Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen. (Official) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
He said that the 58th World Ijtema to be held on the banks of the Turag River in Tongir will be organized in two stages. The first phase of Ijtema will begin on January 31 and will continue until February 1 and 2. The second phase of Ijtema will be held on February 7, 8 and 9.
Earlier on Sunday, a notification published by the Ministry of Home Affairs said that a meeting will be held under the chairmanship of the Home Affairs Advisor on the two groups of Tabligh Jamaat (Jobair and Saad) to determine the date of the upcoming World Ijtema, maintain law and order, overall security of the Ijtema and other relevant issues.
Vishwa Ijtema is known as one of the largest Muslim gatherings in the world. Millions of Muslims gather here from different countries of the world, including Bangladesh, to participate in worship, prayers and religious discussions. In order to maintain the continuity and smooth completion of the World Ijtema, this year the Ijtema has been divided into two phases, which will be especially helpful for the safety and convenience of the participants.

The gathering has been held in two phases since 2011 to facilitate the movement of the pilgrims to and from the World Ijtema, which began in 1967 on the banks of Turag River.
