Jumbangla Desk: Although the law and order situation in the country has 'improved a little', it is 'not satisfactory' admitted by the Home Affairs Advisor. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
He said, 'We are changing almost all the police in Dhaka. But it will take time to recognize them. It will take time to network their intelligence.'
He said this to reporters after visiting the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) headquarters at Pilkhana in the capital on Monday (November 4).
The Home Affairs Adviser said, 'The law and order situation has improved a little, but more needs to be done. Not that it has gone to a very satisfactory level. Now if you say how is the law and order situation. Just satisfactory, but it needs to be better.'
Asking for time to improve the situation, he said, 'As you know, we are changing almost all the police in Dhaka. But it will take time to even recognize them. It will take time to network their intelligence.'
"There have been many changes in BGB as well. It has taken some time, but the situation is improving. There will be more progress in the future.'
Interior Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, Criminals (criminals) cannot be exempted under any circumstances. No matter how majestic he is. In the past many prominent criminals used to get immunity. It cannot be allowed to happen anymore.
Highlighting a bunch of instructions given to the BGB, the Home Affairs Advisor said, 'Let them maintain a cordial relationship with the people. As BGB has to work on border basis, it has to maintain a good relationship with the people. It is convenient to work only if you have a good relationship with the people. But they are the ones who provide various types of assistance.'
Besides, stressing to prevent the entry of various 'illegal products' including phensidyl through the border, he said, 'You know many times phensidyl and others come through the border. Don't come under any circumstances. They are doing a lot of damage to our nation.'
Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, when asked about BGB's stance on preventing Rohingya infiltration, said, 'Infiltration is prohibited. But there is a human side. In that belt you know there is shelling all day long. But they are sent back, not many Rohingyas can enter. We have 1.2 lakh Rohingya, now it is like 1.3 lakh. I don't deny that something is coming. Will send them again.'
There will and must be a re-investigation of the BDR murders. An investigation team will be formed soon. As many others are happening, this too will happen. I can't say what will happen. It has to be either one.
Jatiya Party office set on fire within 50 yards of Ramna police station. Police silent role. Why is this happening? When asked, the Home Affairs Advisor said, "I don't know this at the moment." I can't answer that. I will go and see.
