Jumbangla Desk: In the anti-discrimination movement in Bogra, on August 4, five people were killed by sharp weapons including shooting and cocktail explosions in the procession of students at separate places. They were then buried without an autopsy. Later, the relatives of the five people killed in these incidents filed 5 separate murder cases at Bogra Sadar Police Station. After the case, the court directed the District Magistrate to take necessary steps to exhume their bodies from the grave in the presence of the Executive Magistrate.
The deceased persons are - Qamar Uddin Bangi, Salim Hossain, Abdul Mannan, Ripon Fakir and Zillur Rahman.
In this regard, Bogra Court Inspector Mosaddek Hossain said that the officials investigating the five murder cases applied to the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sadar Amli court of Bogra on October 28 to exhume their bodies from the graves to determine the exact cause of death. Later, court judge Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sukant Saha granted their application last Thursday (October 31).
District Magistrate Bogra has directed Bogra to take necessary steps to exhume the dead bodies in the presence of an Executive Magistrate in the interest of fair investigation of the cases. Also, after the post-mortem of the dead body, instructions have been given to the investigating officers to re-bury them with proper dignity.
Copies of the order have been sent to Bogra District Magistrate, Director of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical Hospital and Officer-in-Charge of Bogra Sadar Police Station.
It is known that in the anti-discrimination movement on August 4, Kamar Uddin Bangi was seriously injured by the accused on the paved road in front of Nawabbari Diabetes Hospital in Bogra city, with cocktails and sharp weapons. Then Kamar Uddin died of excessive bleeding.
On the same day, Salim Hossain, son of Sekendar Ali of Palikander of Shibganj Upazila, died on the spot in front of IFIC Bank on Satmatha Station Road in the city. Besides, on that day, Abdul Mannan was injured by the bullets and sharp weapons fired by the accused on the road up to Kanthaltala Baragola, and the students admitted him to Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. He also died of profuse bleeding.
On August 4, Ripon Fakir was injured at Jhowtla, north of railway station number 2 of the city, and died on the way to Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in a rickshaw-van combination. On the same day, Zillur Rahman, son of deceased Musa Sardar of Gordah Uttarpara, Gabtali, came from his house to Bogra town with students. Zillur Rahman was injured by bullets, cocktails and sharp weapons fired by the accused when he joined the anti-discrimination student-crowd at 12:30 noon and came to the paved road in Jhautla on the north side of the city's No. 2 railway tunnel. The seriously injured Zillur was taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him brought dead .
The court inspector also said that after the death of the deceased Qamar Uddin Bangi, Salim Hossain, Abdul Mannan, Ripon Fakir and Zillur Rahman, their bodies were buried in their homes without post mortem. Later, 5 separate murder cases were registered in connection with their deaths.
Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehena, son Sajib Wazed Joy, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former Law Minister Anisul Haque, former Home Minister Asaduzzan Khan Kamal, former MP District Awami League President Mujibur Rahman Majnu and General Secretary Ragebul Ahsan Ripus along with former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 5 cases. 567 people including Awami League leaders and activists and former police officers and another 1 thousand 650 unidentified people have been charged.
