Lifestyle Desk: Tahajjud is a dignified worship. This Nafal Namaz of the last night is one of the means of attaining the pleasure of Allah. This is the best prayer after five daily prayers. The Holy Prophet (S) said, 'The best fast after Ramadan is the fast of Allah's month of Muharram. And the best prayer after the obligatory prayer is the night (Tahajjud) prayer.' (Muslim: 1163)

The prayer that is performed after waking up at the end of the night is basically called Tahajjud prayer. Allah Ta'ala says, 'And Tahajjud will be performed in some parts of the night. This is your additional responsibility. Soon your Lord will establish you in a place of praise.' (Surah Bani Israel: 79)

Tahajjud plays a very effective role in suppressing evil tendencies in the mind . Makes the mind clear. It has been stated, 'Certainly waking up at night is more effective in calming the mind. Recitation (Qur'an Tilawat or Zikir) at that time is absolutely correct.' (Surah Muzzammil: 06)

Allah's praise for those who perform Tahajjud
When people are deep in sleep, then Allah praises those servants who stand in prayer out of love for the Lord, saying, 'They leave their beds and call their Lord in hope and fear. And they spend from what I have provided them' (Surah Sajda: 16). 'They are patient, truthful, loyal spenders and late-night apologists.' (Surah Ale Imran: 17)

Many more virtues of Tahajjud prayers, may Allah's mercy be upon them, have been described in the Tahajjud family effort . In a hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah (RA), Rasulullah (SAW) said, Allah is kind to the person who wakes up at night for Tahajjud and also wakes up his wife. And if the wife refuses to get up, water is sprinkled on her face. May Allah be kind to the woman who wakes up at night, performs the Tahajjud prayer and wakes up her husband (for Tahajjud). And if the husband refuses to get up, water is sprinkled on his face. (Abu Dawud: 1308)

A Unique Way of Being Closest to Allah
According to Amr Ibn Abbas (R.A.), Rasulullah (S.A.W.) said, Allah, the Exalted, is closest to the servant in the last hour of the night. So, if it is possible to remember Allah during that blessed time, then you should also join them. (Tirmidhi: 3533)

Tahajjud of the Prophet
on the authority of Mughira Ibn Shu'bah (RA), who said, Rasulullah (SAW) used to perform the (Tahajjud) prayer for such a long time that his ankles would swell. It was said to him, O Messenger of Allah, Allah has forgiven all your previous sins. In response, he said, therefore, will I not be a servant who prays more for this great grace? (Bukhari and Muslim, Meshkat: 1149)

Tahajjud is a great way to forgive sins.
Narrated by Abu Umama (R.A.), he said, Rasulullah (S.A.W.) said, you should perform the Tahajjud prayer. Because it is a symbol of the honorable people before you and a special means of getting close to your Lord. Prayer is the expiation of sins and the deterrent of sins. (Tirmidhi: 3549, Sahih Ibn Khuzaima: 1075)

At least two rakat prayers before sleep
If it is not possible to wake up in the last night, it is encouraged to pray two rakat prayers before going to sleep. It has been said that Tahajjud can benefit from this. On the authority of Sauban (RA) , Rasulullah (SAW) said, 'Waking up at night is a difficult and heavy thing, so when you recite the witr (before going to bed), pray two rak'ats (Nafal). It is better if you get up later in the last night, otherwise these two rakats will be the way to get the virtue of Qiyamul Lail.' (Sunan Daremi: 1635; Sahih Ibn Khuzaima: 1106; Tahabi: 2011)

Narrated by Abdullah Ibn Amr Ibn As (R.A.), he said, Rasulullah (S.A.) said to me, O Abdullah! Do not be like such a person, who used to pray at night, then stopped praying at night. (Bukhari: 1152)

The difference between Tahajjud and Qiyamul Lail
The difference between Tahajjud and Qiyamul Lail is - Tahajjud is waking up after sleeping at night only to pray. Whether for a short time or a long time. And Qiyamul Lail is a combination of prayer, dhikr, supplication and recitation of the Qur'an. They can happen at any part of the night. Therefore, Tahajjud is a type of Qiyamul Lail. It refers to waking up again at night to pray after sleep. (Hal Hunaka Farqun Baynat Tahajjud wa Qamil Lail, http://www.islamqa.info/ 20-11-2017)

Narrated by Ibn Abbas (RA), the Prophet's prayer in Tahajjud , he said, when the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to stand for Tahajjud at night, he used to recite this prayer. The prayer is—

O Allah, to You be praise. You are the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and of all that is in them. To You be praise. To You be the dominion of the heavens and the earth and of all that is in them. To You be praise. You are the Light of the heavens and the earth and of all that is in them. To You be praise. You are the King of the heavens and the earth. To You be praise. You are the Truth, Your promise is the Truth, the meeting with You is the Truth, Your word is the Truth, Paradise is the Truth, Hell is the Truth, and the Prophets are the Truth. And Muhammad is true and the Hour is true. O Allah, to You I submit, in You I believe, upon You I rely, to You I turn, with You I contend, and to You I turn for judgment. So forgive me for what I have done in the past and in the future, what I have kept secret and what I have declared. You are the First and the Last. There is no god but You, or there is no god but You.

Meaning: 'O Allah! All praises to You, You are the Ruler of the heavens and the earth and all that exists between them, and all praises to You. The heavens and the earth and all that is between them is yours. All praises to you. You are the light of heaven and earth. All praises to you. You are the Lord of the heavens and the earth, to You is all praise. You are forever true. Your promise is forever true; Your encounter is true; Your words are true; Paradise is true; Hell is true; Prophets are true; Muhammad sallallaahu alayhi wasallam is true, doomsday is true. Ya Allah! To you I surrender; I believed in you; I put my trust in you, I turned to you; I indulged in enmity with you (for satisfaction), I accepted you as judge. So forgive me all my past and open and secret transgressions. You are the master of the past. There is no true god but You, or (in another version) there is no true God but You.' (Sahih Bukhari: 1120)

The best time to pray Tahajjud
is in the last part of the night after waking up. However, this prayer can be performed from the time of Isha prayer until the morning Sadiq. And in this the virtues of Tahajjud are gained. Because the main time of Tahajjud prayer starts after Isha prayer, although the best time is after waking up.

He will fall asleep after Isha prayer. Wish it was for a short time. Then wake up in the middle of the night and pray two rakats in a short time. After that, pray as many rakats as you want, but pray in two rakats. At the end of two rak'ats, return the salam, read two rak'ats again... In this way, after performing Tahajjud as many rakats as possible, perform Witi prayer. (Shaykh bin Baj; Qaifiyyatu Salatut Tahajjud wa Qiyamul Lail, Fatwa Nurun Alaad Darb, Volume: 10, Pages: 21-24)

Narrated
by Aswad Ibn Yazid (RA): I asked Aisha (RA) about the Tahajjud (night) prayer of the Prophet (PBUH). He said, he used to sleep in the early part of the night. Then he would stand for prayer and recite the Witiri before Sehri. Then he would come to bed if he felt the need. Then he would wake up after hearing the sound of adhan and if he was impure, he would bathe with water first or perform ablution. Then he would pray. (Sunan Nasa'i: 1680; Musnad Ahmad: 25474)

Al-Hajjaj Ibn Ghaziyyah (RA) said, 'If one of you wakes up at night and prays until morning, then he will be considered as performing Tahajjud. Because Tahajjud is - waking up from sleep to pray, then sleeping and waking up to pray again. Such was the Tahajjud prayer of the Prophet (PBUH).' (Mazmauz Zawaid: 280/2)

Therefore, there is no alternative to nafl worship at night with Tahajjud to get the pleasure of Allah. Apart from praying Tahajjud regularly at night, believing Muslims should engage themselves in Nafal worship. The prayers recited by the Prophet (PBUH) announced in the hadith should be recited more and more. May Allah Ta'ala grant Tawfik to the Muslim Ummah to perform Tahajjud properly. Bestow blessings in this world and the hereafter. Amen.
