Jumbangla Desk: Two university employees and a shopkeeper have been arrested while consuming drugs in Chittagong University (CHB).
Around 9pm on Monday (November 4), the university's proctorial pills and security personnel raided and arrested them from an abandoned room in the old Shamsun Nahar Hall adjacent to the central playground.
Among those detained are two employees of the dean's office and the central library of the engineering faculty and a shopkeeper of the ladies' hut.
According to university sources, about one liter of alcohol and two packs of cigarettes were recovered from them. In that abandoned room, the three arrested persons were sitting in a circle with mosquito coils, alcohol, cigarettes, nuts, chanachur and chickpeas.
Nazmul Hossain, assistant proctor of the university, said that the CHBI administration has announced a zero tolerance policy against drugs. Action will be taken against any student or staff member who consumes drugs in university premises . The Supreme Council of the University is aware of the matter. They will take action according to law.
