Jumbangla Desk: Remittances sent by expatriate Bangladeshis are getting windy. As a result, the country's economy index of foreign currency accumulation or reserve has increased. In the first four months of the fiscal year 2024-25, remittances came in at $9 billion. Of this, 4 billion dollars of remittances came from only three countries. Which is 44.29 percent of the total remittances coming to the country and about 400 crores in Bangladeshi Taka.
These three countries include - United States, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. This information has been revealed in the latest report of the central bank.
According to the data of Bangladesh Bank, the United States is now the top country of remittance of expatriate income, surpassing the United Arab Emirates in September this year. It is followed by the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
In the first four months (July, August, September and October) of the current fiscal year, Bangladeshi expatriates have sent 1,418,280,000 dollars from the United States. In Bangladeshi currency (at 120 taka per dollar) which amounts to 17 thousand 20 crore taka. In the first month of the fiscal year, July received 23.9 million dollars, August received 29.35 million dollars, September received 8.79 million dollars and October received 500 million dollars.
At this time, expatriates from the United Arab Emirates sent remittances of 136 crore 58 lakh 50 thousand dollars or 16 thousand 390 crore taka. Of this, 332.7 million dollars came in July, 34 million dollars in August, 36 million dollars in September and 33 million 37 million dollars in October.
In the first four months, another country in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia, received remittances worth 117.61 million dollars or 14 thousand 113 million rupees.
