Jumbangla Desk: The National Board of Revenue or NBR has announced the complete withdrawal of the existing import duty and regulatory duty on the import of onion to keep the price of onion within the affordability and tolerable level of the common people in the local market.

The company informed this information in a press release on Wednesday night.
It is informed that the National Board of Revenue has issued a notification reducing the total duty on onion import from 10 percent to zero percent.
As a result, there will be no customs duty on onion import.
The notification also said that as a result of this new decision of the government, the price of onion will be within the purchasing power of common people along with the increase in onion import and supply.
At present, a kilo of domestic good quality onion is being sold at the price of Tk 140 to Tk 150 in the retail market of Dhaka. Apart from this, Indian onion is being sold at 110 to 115 kg, Türkiye and Netherlands onion at 75 to 85 taka per kg.
