Science and Application Desk: In daily life, we cannot go without a smartphone. It is becoming a part of our life. But we have several misconceptions about smartphones. More than half (54%) of the world's population currently use smartphones. Among these 4.33 billion smartphone users, one thing is universal. Everyone has some misconceptions about smartphones.

Now let's know about some misconceptions, which are still present among smartphone users in this year 2024.

1. Phone updates make the camera worse: For a long time we have had the idea that newer models of phones actually make the cameras of older models worse with company software updates. But this is not always true. 80 percent of our smartphone cameras are made of plastic. Over time, the quality of plastic parts of the camera deteriorates naturally due to sun, water and heat. So like the picture we get while buying the phone, the quality of the picture deteriorates with time.

2. Charging phone overnight kills battery: Yes, charging phone overnight kills battery was true 10 years ago. Today's smartphone battery, its software is so advanced that it can sense itself when it is fully charged. Then automatically cut the power. But the previous battery did not realize that this charge was full. So it could not stop the charge on its own. Overcharging can damage the battery.

3. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drain battery: It is a common misconception that keeping Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on drains the phone's battery quickly. But in today's smartphones, if there is no active connection through WiFi or Bluetooth, the battery consumption is almost non-existent. So there is no harm in keeping WiFi or Bluetooth enabled as long as these features of the phone are not being used.

4. A phone with an IP rating is waterproof: This assumption often puts us in danger as no company offers any guarantee against water or dust damage to the phone. The IP rating can protect the phone from water to some extent, but also from dust and dirt. But it has some limitations. For example, if the water is salty, then that water can seriously damage the phone. The IP rating is tested in pure water only. So don't rely on the IP rating. Keep the phone away from water and dust as much as possible.

5. Extreme cold damages the phone: Yes, there is no doubt that extreme cold affects the screen and battery of the phone. So try to keep the phone close to the body in the mountains where the temperature is below zero. Use a headset while talking.

6. Full network icon means call will be good: Mobile network icon is in the upper right corner of the phone. There are traces of some towers in it. The higher the number of network signal lines or towers, the stronger the network signal on the phone. But having a full signal does not guarantee that the call quality will be good or that the call will not drop. Maybe the network strength in your area is good, but the quality is not. The signal may be full, but there are so many people around that signal that the call quality is deteriorating.

7. Phone background apps should be turned off: Phones are really smart these days. He can multitask. He knows how many applications are open so the phone's battery won't run out, it won't strain the RAM. Today's smartphones are designed to manage background processes properly. If you repeatedly force close apps, the phone consumes more battery when you re-open the app later. So don't force close apps running in the background.

8. Charging the phone with a power bank: We do a simple calculation. If the phone battery is 5000 mAh and a power bank is 20000 mAh, then we do not assume that the 5000 mAh battery can be fully charged at least 4 times with that power bank. But in reality it can be seen that the battery of the power bank is exhausted after charging 3 times. In fact, transferring the charge from the power bank through the cable, running the chip inside the power bank, lighting the power bank, etc., consumes quite a bit of battery. So we don't get full backup of 20 thousand mAh from power bank.

9. Fast charging degrades battery: Yes it does. But not always. In fact, the battery of all phones that have fast charging is divided into 2 parts. Charging the 2 batteries separately allows charging at twice the speed. In that case, the health of the battery is not affected much. However, if the charging speed is more than 100 mAh, the battery may drain quickly.

10. The phone gets worse when it gets hot: This idea is not entirely correct. If you keep the phone's camera on for a long time, charge the phone or if you play games for a long time, the phone will naturally heat up. It will not damage the phone. The components of the phone are made in such a way that they can withstand heat up to 100 degrees Celsius. However, if it is hotter than 50 degrees Celsius, you can stop using the phone for a while.

You will get 2 displays in this phone

Beyond these 10 points there are thousands of other misconceptions that will be discussed in the future. But it is the demand of time to keep up with the way smartphones are becoming more modern day by day.
