Interim government chief advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus said that through the revolution, students and teachers have regained their freedom of thought and the practice of free intellect.
He said this at the opening ceremony of the festival titled 'Celebrating Centenary of Bose-Einstein Statistics: Dhaka's Legacy' at an auditorium in the capital on Thursday.
The Physics Department of Dhaka University and the Center for Advanced Studies and Research in Natural Sciences have jointly organized this two-day festival.
Dr. Yunus said, I have left the year 1924 far behind. Has Bose's discovery faded over time? Physicists say not at all. The Bose-Einstein Condensate was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2001 for proof of this discovery. Research on this is ongoing.
I heard that the thought of the discovery came to him from the inconsistency that the young professor Bose had discovered in the beginning of the new quantum theory while reading at Curzon Hall. Which journal of the world will print this strange discovery of this unknown scientist in an unknown place? But Bose, who was very confident in his work, immediately sent his short essay on this discovery to Einstein, the most established scientist in the world at that time. He gave a letter, introduced himself - I am not your direct student, but your spiritual student, saying. Einstein quickly realized that this was no ordinary discovery. He also added an additional idea to this and translated the article into German by himself and sent it to the famous journal of physics. Hence it is the Bose-Einstein theory, he said.
Professor Yunus said, the fruits of the revolution are ready to make all necessary reforms for our interim government, to take all efforts to create a suitable environment for it. Demands, suggestions should come from all those dedicated to this work. We can do it if we have faith in ourselves - like Basu's faith.
Education Advisor Prof. Wahiduddin Mahmud, Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Prof. Niaz Ahmed Khan and Kolkata educationist Prof. Partha Ghosh also spoke on the occasion.
