International relations analyst Imtiaz Ahmed thinks that Donald Trump will have an urge to return to democratic continuity through quick elections on the interim government of Bangladesh.
He told Jugantar, "We have seen in the last 2 weeks that they wanted a clear idea about Bangladesh." That's why I think the Republican Party or Donald Trump's party will have an urge regarding the Bangladesh election.
Analyst Imtiaz also said that Trump will try to build relations with India. Because of this, the enthusiasm that we see about Bangladesh may wane or not be so enthusiastic. On his (Donald Trump) side, he will be busy with big countries like China, India and Russia. Bangladesh might not get the attention it wanted in that place. So it is difficult to say what will affect us. But regarding Bangladesh I think they may want to see the roadmap soon or when the government is going to be elected in Bangladesh.
Stating that Trump's relationship with India will be strengthened, Imtiaz Ahmed said that there was enough criticism in the Democratic Party about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's democratic practices. I think, Trump will not bring that issue forward but will try to create an economic framework. Now we have to wait and see what effect it will have on other South Asian countries.
The former professor of Dhaka University on the war situation in the world said that since he (Donald Trump) was very clear about the war in Ukraine and repeatedly said that there would be no war, there is a big chance of a big change. I think there is an opportunity in Palestine.
