The students of Jagannath University (JAB) have demanded construction of at least three to four halls in the second campus within a year, along with rescuing vacant halls within two months or providing accommodation on rent.
This student organization of BNP made these demands in a press conference organized at Kanthaltala of the university on Thursday.
University Branch Chhatra Dal General Secretary Sujan Molla gave a welcome speech at the press conference and President Asaduzzaman Aslam read the written statement.
Before this, the University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. They also gave a memorandum to Rezaul Karim. A 21-point demand was made on behalf of the organization.
In the 21st point, Jagannath University is proposed to take necessary steps to transform it into a fully autonomous university and create two posts of Pro-VC by amending the University Act.
In the press conference, the organization demanded that the administration prepare a list of those who attacked the students within the next 10 days and punish those involved. It is demanded to publish the list of all those appointed for political reasons within 10 days, cancel their appointment and release them from service and take legal action.
It was demanded to complete the work of the cafeteria at the earliest and set up food courts at different places of the campus, increase the internet speed of the campus and student hall, build a modern TSC in coordination with the cooperative bank and set up three gates at Rai Saheb Bazar, Banglabazar and Patuatuli in the branding of the campus.
Other demands expressed by the Chhatra Dal are - Modernization of e-library and construction of academic website, industry academia collaboration, coexistence of student organizations and formation of student council, increase in allocation for research and appointment of research assistant.
In addition to this, increasing the per capita allocation of students; Construction of memorial plaques to protect the memory of students killed, injured and missing in the uprising; Traffic police arrangement at the main gate; Allotment of student hall seats based on distance and merit; development of medical centers; It is demanded to guarantee all kinds of assistance from the university administration in carrying out the professional duties of the campus journalists to kill mosquitoes and maintain cleanliness in the campus and to ensure the freedom of the media.
