Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has indicated that Russia is also ready to negotiate if the United States wants to reconsider relations under the new leadership.

The Russian Foreign Minister indicated this at a press conference in Kazakhstan's capital Astana on Thursday (November 7).

After a meeting with the Kazakh president and foreign minister, Lavrov said Moscow is always open to dialogue.

The Russian Foreign Minister said, 'We have never stopped communication with anyone. Because in our view dialogue is always better than isolation'.

On November 5, the Republican candidate Donald Trump defeated the Democratic candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris in the United States presidential election. Trump won for the second time by getting 294 electoral votes.

"Let's see," said Lavrov, about which way US-Russia relations will move under the Trump administration. If there is any proposal, I repeat, it was never our decision to sever the relationship. So it is not our responsibility to offer to restore the relationship. But if initiative is taken to discuss equal rights on both sides, we are ready to sit down for talks'.

Meanwhile, regarding the appointment of a new Russian ambassador in Washington, the Russian Foreign Minister said, 'The process of selecting a new Russian ambassador to the United States is ongoing and it will be completed soon. We will inform about this in due course.

In addition, Lavrov believes that the United States will also try to appoint an ambassador to Moscow under the new administration.

Along with that, he also mentioned that Moscow will not obstruct this process.
