The students of Islamic Studies Department of Jagannath University are going to organize a cow feast by naming cows after the names of Chhatra League leaders.
The students of the department said that this feast will be organized on Saturday. On the same day, students who have contributed significantly to the anti-dictatorship movement of July-August will be felicitated.
Cows bought for cow feast are brought to the campus on Thursday. Later, the students circled the entire campus with slogans about the cow.
At 12 noon in front of the Islamic Studies Department, it was seen that the cow was tied to an iron pole. Posters written 'Damra Miraj' and 'Sazbul' have been pasted on the cows. Many students are taking pictures of that cow on all four sides.
Talking to the students, it is known that they are organizing this beef feast on the occasion of independence after the uprising. Students of Islamic Studies Department 'Miraj Hossain' and 'Sazbul Islam' satirized posters with their names on cows.
Among them, Sajbul Islam is the General Secretary of Islamic Studies Department of Chhatra League. Sajbul was known as the owner of the robbery gang in Victoria Park, Sadarghat area near the university. It is known that the members of this gang used to rob passengers and pedestrians traveling at night. Another student, Miraj Hossain, though not holding any position in the BCL, was known as the maiman (closer) of JOB branch BCL general secretary Akhtar Hossain. He was notorious in the campus as an accomplice of Akhtar's misdeeds.
Rifatul Islam, a 2nd year student of the Islamic Studies department, said that Miraj was one of the tyrannical leaders of the Chhatra League. He reigned supreme in our section. He and his friends misbehaved with the students. After achieving second independence, students expressed protest and jubilation by associating his name with an ethereal animal. Basically, this is the explosion of anger accumulated for a long time towards the Chhatra League.
Abduzzah Mehdi, a third-year student of the same department, said that Sajbul is one of the most controversial Chhatra League leaders not only in our department, but in the entire university. He has oppressed us greatly. It has made our lives toxic. Now we in independent Jagannath University are protesting against him like this. We express our joy.
