Interim Council of Khagrachari Hill District Council has been reconstituted. Senior Assistant Secretary Taslima Begum signed a notification in this regard on the order of the President on Thursday evening.

Jiruna Tripura is the first woman chairman in Khagrachari Zilla Parishad.

By virtue of sub-section 16(a)(4) of the Khagrachari Hill District Council Act-1989 and sub-section 16(a)(4) of the Khagrachari Hill District Council (Amendment) Act, 1997 and sub-section 2(2) of the Khagrachari Hill District Council (Amendment) Act-2014, the government consists of 15 members. Interim Council of Khagrachari Hill District Council has been reconstituted.

The members of the reconstituted 15-member council are - Bangamitra Chakma of Khagrachari district headquarters, Animoy Chakma, Nitol Moni Chakma, Mahbubul Alam, Shefalika Tripura, Nitol Moni Chakma, Dhaneshwar Tripura, Prashant Kumar Tripura of Matiranga upazila, Md. Shahidul Islam (Sumon), Jaya Tripura, Advocate Manjila Sultana, Kangjpu Marma of Mahalachari Upazila, Kumar Switching Prusin of Manikachhari Upazila, Sathwai Pru Chowdhury, Professor Abdul Latif from Panchhari Upazila.

The notification canceled the council formed during the former Awami League government.

Incidentally, since the fall of the government on August 5, Zilla Parishad Chairman Mangsuiproo Chowdhury and others have been absconding.
