The court has sentenced one person named Nezam Uddin to death and one named Ratan Howladar to life imprisonment in the sensational Rebecca Sultana Moni murder case in Chittagong. Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions (4th Additional) Judge Sirajam Munira's court gave this verdict on Thursday.

The court acquitted a person named Abu Siddique Rubel as the charges were not proved.
The matter was confirmed by the bench assistant of the court, Omar Farooq Fuad.
Nezam Uddin was present in the court when the verdict was announced. Later sent to jail on warrant. Abdul Halim is absconding. It is said that an arrest warrant has been issued against him.
According to the court sources, the accused Nezam Uddin was sentenced to death, 20 thousand taka fine and 6 months of rigorous imprisonment in default and the accused Md. Abdul Halim was sentenced to life imprisonment with 6 months of hard labor in default of 20 thousand taka fine. the court Besides, one person was acquitted as the charges were not proved.
According to the source of the case, on May 11, 2019, at the direction of Abdul Halim, Md. Nezam Uddin killed Rebekah Sultan Moni by strangulation and ran away after locking the room to hide the body. Later the police recovered the body. In this incident, then SI Rezaul Islam of Bayezid Bostami police station filed a case in the police station as a plaintiff. After the investigation, he submitted the charge sheet to the court on April 30, 2020. On August 1, 2022, the trial began with the framing of charges against the three accused. The court ruled on Thursday.
