A case has been filed against 192 Awami League leaders and activists, including two former chairmen of Dhamrai Upazila and Union Parishad. Two journalists are among the accused. They have been charged with attempted murder by firing at anti-discrimination activists.

Mohammad Jewel Talukdar of Kanthal Shimul village under Ghatail police station of Tangail district filed the case at Dhamrai police station on Wednesday night. Jewel is currently staying in the house of Mohammad Rabiul Islam in New Dakshinpara Mahalla of Dhamrai Paur. Earlier on Tuesday, the plaintiff complained to the court. In view of this, the court ordered the police to take up the case.
In the statement of the case, the plaintiff mentioned that during the anti-discrimination student movement, around 11 o'clock on August 5, the accused Upazila Parishad Chairman Mohammad, Abdul Latif and Jadavpur Union Parishad Chairman Alhaj Mizanur Rahman Mizo led 4-5 thousand Awami League leaders and activists with batons and firearms. Ambushed on. At one stage they tried to kill me by shooting. Many agitating students including myself were shot and seriously injured.
In this regard, Police Inspector Mohammad Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Dhamrai police station, said, I am very worried about the case. Appropriate legal action will be taken subject to investigation. Only those who will be found guilty by investigation will be arrested and brought under the law. No innocent and innocent person shall be harassed.
