The District Detective Police (DB) has arrested five members of a juvenile gang involved in the murder of Jamaat leader Aminul Islam Sajal in Kharki, a suburb of Jessore. At that time, weapons and knives used in murder and other crimes were recovered from their custody.
The district police arrested them on Wednesday and Thursday (November 7) in suburban Kholadanga Ghazirhat Bazar area.
The arrested are- Sadman Rahman Sakin son of Achabur Rahman Hasib of Barasat area of Terkhada upazila of Khulna, Alamani Hossain son of Amjad Hossain of Kholadanga area of Jessore city, Raihan Ahmed son of Lutfar Rahman of the same area, Abdur Rahman Sagar son of Bablu Moral of Kharki Circuit Housepara, Islamil Hossain son of Kholadanga area of the city. In a press briefing on Thursday, Deputy Inspector (SI) Jessore DB Police Mofizul Islam said that Jamaat leader Aminul Islam Sajal was stabbed to death by terrorists on the evening of November 4. DB police started investigation in this incident.
As part of the investigation, two accused Sadman Rahman Sakin and Al-Amin Hossain were first arrested from Kholadanga Ghazirhat Bazaar of the city. In their interrogation, 3 more accused were identified. It also provides information on the involvement of more juvenile gang members in crime.
A video footage was recovered from the arrested accused. As it turns out, Sakin and his associates are training with knives and revolvers in the drug ring. On the basis of this video, the police conducted a raid and arrested three other juvenile gang members named Raihan Ahmed, Abdur Rahman Sagar and Riyad Hasan.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrested said that they killed Sajal due to previous enmity. The deceased Sajal had searched a bag of Fakhrul Islam and his relatives a few days ago. Enraged by this, they plan to kill Sajal. On the evening of November 4, Sajal was attacked from behind on his way to Namaz and killed with 21 stab wounds to various parts of his body.
According to the information given by the arrested, 2 firearms were recovered from under the stairs of Raihan Ahmed's house around 1.30 pm on Thursday. Later, a Burmese knife used in the murder was also recovered from Labib's house.
He said, in the investigation of this murder, the DB Police has been able to successfully identify and arrest the criminals by using modern technology and information technology.
