A three-day bonsai exhibition has begun in Rajshahi. Rajshahi Bonsai Society organized this 22nd annual exhibition at Green Plaza of Nagar Bhavan.

On Thursday afternoon, as the chief guest, the Divisional Commissioner and Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation Dr. Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir. Later he visited the exhibition.
On the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner said, 'Bonsai is a living sculpture. A tree can be admired up close in bonsai. This industry has developed long before the development of urban civilization, it has a history. Evidence of this art practice can be found in the ancient history of China and Japan. It is an age old industry. Bonsai is not only a hobby but also plays an important role in the economy.
President of Rajshahi Bonsai Society Syed Mahfuz-e-Tawhid Tutu presided over the opening ceremony and the special guest was Rajshahi College Principal Prof. Mu. Jahoor Ali, Rajshahi Bonsai Society General Secretary Sarwar Murshed and Vice President Rehana Chowdhury.
Organized in collaboration with Rajdhani Cycle and Luminous Properties, 235 bonsai trees of 40 species by 18 artists have been exhibited. Notable plants include bot, pakur, licorice, moss, ghurnibechi, tamal, baichi, jillapi, tamarind, kamini, benjamini, rechusa, rumfi, longisland, golden virens, garden luxury, baobab, jade, chinabot, thycheri, catbel and rangan. The exhibition will be open to all from 10 am to 9 pm every day till next Saturday (November 9).
