Every day people of different ages are getting bitten by foxes, dogs, cats and other wild animals in the hospitals of district cities and upazila cities. Although these affected patients rushed to the government hospital for treatment, there is no supply of (Ravis) vaccine for almost a month. As a result, affected patients have to buy vaccines from outside pharmacies. Which many patients cannot afford.

On the ground, it was seen that on Thursday morning at Rajbari Modern Sadar Hospital, patients from different parts of the district city have come to take rabies vaccine. But many are going back because there is no vaccine in the hospital. Many others are buying vaccines from outside pharmacies and pushing them through hospital nurses.


A rabies vaccination room has been designated in room number 203 on the second floor of Rajbari Sadar Hospital. In several places on the door of that room, there is no vaccine supply for cats and dogs since October 13.

Nurse Roshan Ara, who is in charge of the vaccination center at the hospital, said that almost 100 patients come to the hospital every day to take the rabies vaccine. This vaccine is given from 9 am to 12 noon. 88 patients were vaccinated between 9 am and 12 pm on Thursday. As there is no supply in the hospital, everyone buys it from the outside pharmacy and comes here to get the vaccine. Then we push the vaccine into the patient's body. This vaccine is sold outside the pharmacy for 500 taka and if the patients buy it, we make a vaccine group and push it to 4 people.

Al-Amin Sheikh, a resident of Mahadevpur area of ​​Mijanpur Union of Sadar Upazila, said, I was bitten by a cat the day before yesterday. When I saw the doctor in the emergency department at Sadar Hospital, he advised me to get the vaccine. Later, when I went to get the vaccine in room number 203 on the second floor, they said there is no vaccine supply. Have to buy from outside. Later, 4 people in a group bought vaccine for 500 taka and 4 syringes for 40 taka from an outside pharmacy, and the nurses gave us the vaccine.

Mousumi Khatun, a resident of Ramchandrapur area of ​​Dadshi Union of Sadar Upazila, said that after being bitten by a dog, I went to Sadar Hospital to get vaccine. But there is no vaccine supply. Later, 4 people were grouped and bought from outside and given to the patients. I later returned from the hospital due to lack of money.

Rajbari Sadar Hospital supervisor Dr. Mohammad Sheikh Abdul Hannan told Jugantar, "We will get rabies vaccination by Friday and Saturday, then the patients who come to the hospital for treatment will get regular services," he said.

It should be noted that last Sunday (November 3), 9 people were bitten by foxes, including 5 people from Master neighborhood, 4 people from Nagarray neighborhood and 1 person from Devgram union.
