An autorickshaw driver named Abu Taher (50) died after being hit by a truck in Lakshmipur. The accident took place on the Lakshmipur-Dhaka regional highway in Joksin Bazar area of ​​Sadar upazila in the early hours of Friday (November 8). Another person named Suman was seriously injured.

At around 12:30 noon, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Model Police Station Abdul Munnaf confirmed the matter and said that an autorickshaw driver died in the accident. No one has filed a complaint in the police station yet. Further legal action will be taken if complaints are received.

The deceased Abu Taher was the son of Aziz Uliah of Laharkandi village of Laharkandi union of Sadar upazila and was a battery operated autorickshaw driver by profession.

According to the police and locals, Taher Joksin was going towards the market in an auto-rickshaw at the time of the incident. On reaching near the market, a truck coming from the opposite direction hits the autorickshaw. Autorickshaw driver Abu Taher and passenger Suman were seriously injured. After they were rescued and taken to Sadar Hospital, Taher was declared dead by the doctor on duty.

Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Sadar Hospital, Arup Pal, said that Suman's condition is critical. He was sent to Noakhali General Hospital.
