There are many pictures of Biswajit Das hanging inside the house. Like the picture, the person is now just a memory. The boy will not return home. However, mother Kalpana Das has been shedding tears for her son for a long time.
On that day Vishwajit was brutally hacked to death by the activists of the banned organization Chhatra League. An era has passed, but the trial has not yet been completed. The parents wish to at least see the trial of their son's killers before death.
Biswajit is the younger son of Anant Das and Kalpana Das of Mashura area of Naria upazila of Shariatpur.
On the surface, going to the house of Biswajit Das, it is seen that mother Kalpana is looking blankly at the picture of her son in the house. After a while, he takes down a picture of his son and cleans it with utmost care. When he remembers his son, he bursts into tears. Biswajit's father Anant is also crying.
Kalpana says, my world (Vishwajit) has never done politics. My son used to work and run the family. Jagannath's Chhatra League Polapine killed the son. It has been 12 years today that the criminals have not been tried. They are walking around openly. And we are tired of seeking justice. I want justice for murdering the world. Anant said, I wish I could see the trial of my son's murder during the tenure of this government. Then even if you die, at least your soul will be at peace.
Shariatpur Human Rights Commission President Advocate Masudur Rahman said, "We know who killed him publicly." They were allies of the dictatorial government. So they are very quick to get out through the loopholes of the law and roam openly. We want expeditious execution of exemplary punishment to all criminals.
Talking to locals, Biswajit learned tailoring at his brother's shop in Dhaka's Shankhari Bazar from his childhood to stand by his family. After that, along with his brother, he took control of the family. On December 9, 2012, Biswajit Das was publicly hacked to death in Victoria Park area of Dhaka on suspicion of camp during the blockade program of 18 parties led by BNP.
In this incident, the names of then students of Jagannath University Rafiqul Islam, Mahfuzur Rahman Nahid, Mir Noore Alam Limon, Shakeel and several others came up. All of them were involved in the politics of the banned Chhatra League. Eight people were sentenced to death and 13 were sentenced to life in the Dhaka speedy trial tribunal's verdict in Biswajit's murder. However, during the Awami League government, six of the eight convicts sentenced to death were commuted to life imprisonment. And the execution order of the two has not been implemented for 12 long years.
