A student of Chittagong University (CHB) has been accused of being picked up and beaten up with his face tied. This incident happened on Friday night around 9 pm.

The student's name is Noor Karim Saad. He is a third year student of Geography and Environment department.

It is known that the miscreants took the student with his face tied in front of the security office of the university. He was later taken to a secluded area behind the biology faculty and beaten up. The Proctorial Body rescued him from the Faculty of Biology and first took him to Chubby Medical. Later he was sent to Chittagong Medical College (CHMEC) Hospital for X-ray.

In this incident, the students protested by blocking the main gate of Zero Point. Later they opened the gate with the assurance of the authorities.

It is said that the victim student used to live in Suhrawardy Hall as an activist of Vijaya, a sub-group of Chabi Chhatra League. However, Chhatra Dal leaders claimed Saad as their worker.

KM Ataul Gani, the doctor in charge of Chabi Medical, told Jugantar that the student was brought here around 10 pm. There were injury marks on the right leg. Besides, the swelling on the back was a sign of injury. There were no head or chest injuries, he said himself. Chamek was sent to hospital for an X-ray of the leg.

Chobi Chhatra Dal Joint General Secretary Md. Yasin said, Saad is an activist of Chhatra Dal. However, his biggest identity is that he is a student of this university. It is not normal for terrorists to pick up a student and beat him up. We demand that those involved in this incident be quickly identified and brought under the law.

Assistant Proctor Nurul Hamid told Kanan Jugantar that action will be taken by watching the CCTV cameras. The vice chancellor sir said he will sit with the proctor on the matter.
