Tahjib Alam Siddiqui, a former Member of Parliament of Awami League in Jhenaidah-2 Constituency, has been remanded for three days in three separate cases. Senior Judicial Magistrate Romna Afroz gave this order when he was produced in Jhenaidah court at around 11 o'clock on Friday. Earlier on Thursday, a special team of RAB arrested him from Dhaka.
Jhenaidah Additional Superintendent of Police Mohibul Islam said that there are three cases against Tahjeeb Alam Siddiqui Sami including murder. He also said that the RAB handed him over to the police station at night and sent him to the court in the morning. Remand application was made in three cases. Court Jamaat workers. Jubo League leader arrested in Kaunia: Sarai Union Jubo League leader Ershad Alam (38) of Kaunia has been arrested by the police in the case of attack on anti-discrimination student movement in Rangpur. He was arrested in front of Haq Bazar Haragach High School in Haragach Municipal area of the upazila on Thursday night. Police handed him over to the court on Friday morning.
Jubo League leader Ershad Alam is the son of deceased Amjad Hossain of Udayanarayan Machhari village of Sarai Union. When the news of Ershad Alam's arrest spread, the people of different villages of Sarai Union expressed their satisfaction.
The local residents complained that the Jubo League leader Ershad Alam used to attack the helpless people of the village for trivial incidents and harassed them in cases.
UP Chairman in Thakurgaon: The police have arrested Akhanagar Union Awami League President and UP Chairman Roman Badsha (56) in Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila in the case of sabotage and coercion. Three arrested in Durgapur along with Chhatra League leader: Shakil Khan, president of Durgapur Upazila Chhatra League of Rajshahi, has been arrested by police. They were arrested late Thursday night. The other two arrested are Palashbari village. Jonab Ali's son Moazzem Hossain (40) and Jamsed Ali (38) of Palibazar area.

AL and Jubo League leaders in Bogra: Two leaders of Awami League and Jubo League have been arrested in the case of murder and sabotage in Shajahanpur and Shibganj of Bogra. Police arrested them in a separate operation on Thursday night. On Friday, they were sent to Bogra Jail by the court.

Financier arrested for suppression of student movement: RAB has arrested Sirajul Islam alias Siraj Chairman, the main accused in the case of funding the suppression of anti-discrimination student movement and the murder of a protesting student in Banshal area.
Tapas Karmakar, Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-10 said on Friday that on August 5, the students and the public were conducting a peaceful protest against quota and discrimination in various areas under Banshal police station. At that time armed terrorists attacked with firearms, chapatis and sticks and detonated cocktails. Disinformation and death threats were issued against the agitators to thwart the movement. A murder case was filed in Banshal police station against Siraj Chairman and more than 100 people on the charge of funding suppression of student movement in Badamtali and Banshal area and killing an innocent student. After the case, Siraj and other accused went into hiding.
Tapas Karmakar also said that with the help of information technology, Siraj Chairman was arrested on Thursday night in the Siddique Market area of Banshal police station. During the initial interrogation, Siraj admitted his involvement in the incident.
Arrested 5 in Gournadi: Five youth and Chhatra League leaders and activists including two former councilors of Gournadi Municipality of Barisal have been arrested by police. The arrested are- former councilor of Gourandi Gaursabha No. 7 and president of Government Gourandi College Chhatra League Sakhawat Hossain Sujan, Municipal Chhatra League President and former councilor of Ward No. 9 Milan Khalifa, Municipal Chhatra League general secretary Prince Ronand Bepari, Municipal Jubo League member HM Tipu, Chhatra League worker Sakib Hossain.
Gournadi Thana Police in cooperation with Mohipur Thana Police of Kalapara Upazila raided a residential hotel in Kuakata late on Thursday night and arrested the five youth and Chhatra League leaders who were in hiding.
