He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the 'DRU-Desh TV Best Reporting Award-2024' ceremony at Dhaka Club on Friday (November 8) afternoon.

Yesterday Thursday (November 7) in the meeting of the advisory council of the interim government, a policy decision was taken to cancel the much discussed cyber security law. It is alleged that this law is being used as a tool to harass people of various classes and professions including journalists.

The legal advisor said that with the repeal of the Cyber ​​Security Act, all the cases under this act will be cancelled, journalists will not need to apply for this case. However, the prosecution of pornography and sexual harassment cases under this law will continue.

Asif Nazrul claimed that there was no harassment case against the journalist during the interim government and said, "We have nothing to do if there is a case on behalf of the martyr's family during the students' movement." In this case too, we asked to see the issue of sensitivity.


In the event, Forest, Environment, Climate Change Adviser Syed Rizwana Hasan urged the Government to point out the mistakes in decision-making. He said, journalists should be fearless. If journalists are not fearless, neither democracy nor the environment will be saved.

In the event, 11 people were given Best Reporting Awards in four categories.

Mahmudul Hasan Nayan of Daily Prothom Alor got the first prize in the print category, Ahsan Habib Russell of Daily Star got the second prize and Farhan Ferdous and Jasim Uddin Haroon of Financial Express got the third prize.

In the electronic media category, Aditya Arafat of DBC got the first prize, Masood Mostahid of Newstime BD got the second prize and Pervez Nadir Reza of Ekatar TV got the third prize.

Yasir Arafat of Jago News got the first prize in the online category, Arafat Zobair of Dhaka Post got the second prize and Tauhiduzzaman Tanmoy of Jago News got the third prize.

Dainik Samkal's Abu Saleh Roni received the award in the Liberation War category.

President of DRU Shukkur Ali Shubho presided over the event as special guests were Managing Director of Desh TV Arif Hasan, Former President of DRU Safiqul Karim, Managing Director of Journalist Kalyan Trust M Abdullah, General Secretary of DRU Mohiuddin, Organizing Secretary Khaled Saifullah and others.
