Joint forces arrested 9 persons with drugs in two separate places in Kalmakanda of Netrakona. Seven people were arrested from Pachura area on Kalmakanda-Thakurakona road on Friday night. During the search, eight bottles of Indian liquor were recovered from them.
Before this, two persons were arrested along with 43 bottles of Phencidyl and 10 grams of ganja by searching the Dhaka-bound MS Travels bus in Bahadurkanda area of that road at around 11:30 am.
Major Nazmuz Shakib, Commander of Kalmakanda Temporary Army Camp and Company Commander of 8 East Bengal Regiment, confirmed this at around 10:30 pm on Friday.
The arrested are Uday (24), son of deceased Padant Chandra of Nakdura village of Mohanganj upazila, Kanun (26), son of Suran of the same village, Biswajit (21), son of Sunil Chandra, Nikash (22), son of Shyamlal, Mohammed Pavel (20), son of Saiful Islam, Rabindra Son Kali Pad (35) and Sapta Chandra (23) son of Dhan Chandra. Alamgir Hossain (22) son of Shahadat Ali of Kalaghar village of Madhyanagar upazila of Sunamganj and Mohammad Ali (23) son of deceased Abdul Ali of Kalaghar Dakshinpara village of the same upazila.
It is known that from 9 am on Friday, a joint check post was established under the leadership of Major Nazmuz Saqib and conducted search operations at various places on the Kalmakanda-Thakurakona highway. An auto-rickshaw was searched at Pachura area around 8:30 pm and seven people were arrested along with eight bottles of Indian liquor. Earlier, two people were arrested along with 43 bottles of Phencidyl and 10 grams of ganja by searching the Dhaka-bound MS Travels bus in Bahadurkanda area around 11:30 am. Later these seized drugs and detainees were handed over to Kalmakanda police station.
