The generation of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mushfiqur Rahim took Bangladesh cricket to a stage. But the senior assistant coach of the national team, Mohammad Salauddin, thinks that not being able to raise it further means that the country's cricket has not progressed.

He is joining the Bangladesh national cricket team as an assistant coach from the upcoming West Indies tour. Coach Salahuddin said that for the development of the Bangladesh team, a change in thinking and mentality is needed.
Recently the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the name of Salahuddin as the senior assistant coach of the national team. The next day, he started working at Mirpur Sherebangla Stadium. However, he did not officially speak to the media. Salahuddin talked about coming to the coaching staff of the national team, goals and prospects of the Bangladesh team in a video published on BCB's official social media platform (Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube) in the morning.
Mohammad Salahuddin has worked with the Bangladesh team before this. Salaudin, who served as Bangladesh team's fielding coach and assistant coach from 2006 to 2010, mentioned that time and said, "When I worked for five years before, I worked with a generation." At that time there were Shakib, Tamim, Mushfiq, Riyad, Mashrafe. That generation gave a lot to the country. taken to a point. Now if I can help the next generation with my experience, it will be good for the country, it will also be good for the player.
Apart from the national team, Salahuddin also worked as an expert coach of BCB Academy during 2010-11. Worked regularly in Dhaka club cricket and Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). That is why Salahuddin knows the current generation of cricketers of Bangladesh very well.
There is enough potential for the cricketers of this time to take Bangladesh cricket forward from the Shakib-Tamim generation, we who say - Shakib, Tamim, Mushfiq have taken it to a stage, if we can't break it, then I personally think that Bangladeshi cricket has not progressed. May the next generation be better players than them, be bigger. He said, now the players are very independent mentally, physically and financially. Which may not have been there before. There is more opportunity to do better now.
In this regard, Salahuddin thinks it is important to set big goals and change the thinking of the players. The coach, who has a contract till March 2025, cited the example of the players who are close to the national team. But the dream stopped there. They do not know how to set goals after playing in the national team. Those who have been playing for so long, what kind of goals should they have, mentality should they have, how should they motivate themselves to become bigger players, doing these small things. It's not a big deal. If these small things can be done, especially how to think in the dressing room and outside the dressing room, if that thinking space can be given a clearer idea, they have a better future ahead of them.
Salahuddin said that BCB president Farooq Ahmed had a big role in coming to the coaching staff of the national team after more than an era. Besides, he had a goal of his own about the local coaches, 'I have been hearing for a long time that the board will provide a platform for local coaches. If I can lead the way in that place, even for a few days, maybe my native coaches will do well too. The trust of the board will increase, the trust of the people will increase, the trust of the people will increase. Along with that, the coach's own belief will increase that we can do well at the international level. I think someone should have taken this belief. If I can keep that belief, it will pave the way for the next coaches. As a coach, I have a great responsibility to guide the coach-community. I took that as a challenge.'
Nabi's decision to retire from ODIs
It should be noted that the Bangladesh team will play two Tests and T20 and three ODIs in the tour of West Indies which will start this month. The tour will begin on November 22 with the Antigua Test.
