The blockade of the busiest Dhaka-Mymensingh highway has resulted in several kilometer-long traffic jams towards Mymensingh and Tangail and towards Dhaka.

According to Gazipur Industrial Police and workers, there is a garment manufacturing factory named T&Z Apparels Limited in Malek Bari area of Gazipur City Corporation. The authorities have closed the factory without paying the workers of that factory.

6 factories of TNZ group have arrears of salaries for the months of September and October. The workers have been demanding payment of their salaries for a long time. But the factory authorities did not pay it. Later on Saturday morning, the workers started gathering in front of the factory. At one point, they protested by blocking the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Malek's house Columbia Mor area. Police and army are trying to bring the situation under control after receiving the information.

Rabiul Hasan, a factory worker, said that he has been paying his salary for the past two months, but he has not received his salary until now. Due to which he had to go down the road.

Another worker named Nazma Akhtar said that the factory was closed since last April. In September, the factory opened at home without paying the salary for two months and the authorities are complaining. The factory authorities are not paying the wages to the workers despite repeatedly giving the salary council dates through the police and the army. So the road had to be blocked.

The factory authorities are not addressing the workers' salary issue. As a result of the blockade, commuters and transport drivers plying on this highway have to suffer a lot.
