The name of depriving someone of what he deserves is oppression. As such, depriving someone of their rights, torture without crime, causing financial, physical and dignity damage, defamatory slander, brutality on the weak, unjustly taking away other people's property, abusive language, oppression or pain etc. are included in the level of oppression.
All forms of oppression or tyranny are strictly prohibited and haram in Islam. Not only tyranny, but co-operation with tyranny and maintaining good relations and closeness with the tyrants are also forbidden.
In the present situation, Islamic negotiator Maulana Mizanur Rahman Azhari called upon the countrymen to raise their voices for the oppressed and not for the oppressors.
On Friday (November 8) in a post on his verified Facebook page, this popular religious speaker made this call.
In a Facebook post, Azhari wrote, 'Be the voice of the oppressed, not the helper of the oppressor.'
The picture attached to Azhari's Facebook post has a hadith written by Ibn Majah.
The hadith is - 'Rasulullah (S.A.W.) said, "Whoever takes the side of the oppressor or assists in oppression, remains in the wrath of Allah until he abandons it." (Sunan Ibn Majah: 2320)'
Azhari came to the country on October 2. He returned to Malaysia after 9 days. In the meantime, he met with scholars and well-wishers of different genres.
In the Facebook status given before leaving, he wrote, 'After a long five years, I came to the country on a short visit. Spent most of the time with family. In the meantime, I organized a close meet-up program with scholars and well-wishers of various genres. Alhamdulillah, that day was really enjoyable. But due to organizing the program at short notice many dear brothers could not come. Again, due to a somewhat hasty invitation, many were inadvertently left out. I hope you will look at it kindly. Looking forward to meeting everyone later.'
