The case has been registered 11 years after the attack on the convoy of Central BNP Vice Chairman and former Home Minister Air Vice Marshal (retd) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury in Patuakhali. On Friday (November 8) evening, a person named Mehedi Hasan Jiban filed the case as the plaintiff at Patuakhali Sadar Police Station.

In this, the names of 57 people have been mentioned with Mukta Mia, the former president of Badarpur Union Awami League of Sadar Upazila, as the main accused. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar police station. Imtiaz Mahmood confirmed the case.

According to the source of the case, on October 25, 2013, on the way back to the city after the party program in Badarpur Bazar, the former Home and Commerce Minister Air Vice Marshal (Retd.) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury was attacked by the leaders and activists of the then ruling party Awami League. District Farmers Dal President SM Abdur Rob Howladar, Union Youth Dal Vice President Mohan Sikder, Juba Dal members Delwar Hossain and Shafiq Taylor were seriously injured. Apart from 57 named persons, 30-40 unknown accused have been made in the case.

Mehdi Hasan Jiban, the plaintiff in the case, said that in 2013, Awami League leaders and activists attacked the convoy of former Home Minister Altaf Hossain Chowdhury under the leadership of Mukta Mia. During this time my father was seriously injured. We could not treat my father properly then. Where we could not get treatment during that fascist government, it is far from getting justice. I have filed the case to get justice as that government was ousted on August 5 in the students' movement.

The OC of Sadar police station said, 'Mehedi Hasan Jeevan has filed a case as a plaintiff in Sadar police station in connection with the attack in 2013. The police are working to bring the accused under the law quickly.'
