AI Death Calculator will tell if there is a risk of death due to heart disease

How much are you or I at risk of heart disease? An artificial intelligence (AI) powered calculator will predict how long it will take for our heart to stop beating.

AI Death Calculator

A study claims that it has been possible to predict death due to heart disease using a special AI tool. The research paper was published in Lancet Digital Health.

AI-assisted ECGs can measure risk of future health problems and even death, the study reported. Although this infrastructure is not yet used in daily medical care, it has already become known as an AI death calculator. This technology is called AI-ECG Risk Estimator (AIRE). The researchers said that the benefits that were not available earlier in AI-ECG, have been brought to this new tool.

How this technology will work

The AIRE tool was trained using a database of 1.16 million ECG reports from 189,539 patients, the researchers said. Researchers claim the technology can detect future heart rhythm problems in at least 76 percent of cases. On the other hand, in 7 out of 10 cases, narrowing of the arteries leads to early detection of blood circulation problems. This tool is already called AI Death Calculator. According to the researchers, now even the eyes of highly experienced doctors can avoid danger, this AIR can also understand and warn. Early detection of heart problems or risks will be much easier to prevent.

The trial of EDHIRE will continue in 2 hospitals under the National Health Service of the United Kingdom. It will start from mid-2025. Researchers believe that within the next 5 years, this tool can be used universally in the treatment of heart disease. According to a report by the UK media Daily Mail, Fu Xiong, a cardiologist at the Imperial College Healthcare in the UK, said that the aim is to put all patients in the hospital who will have an ECG into this model. As a result, the whole of the risk will come to our attention. We can act quickly to prevent disease.
