Jumbangla Desk: There was no incident of arrest or repression of the supporters of the newly elected US President Donald Trump in Bangladesh. Interim government's press wing Facts has claimed such news published in an Indian media as fake.

This claim was made in a post on the verified Facebook page of CA Press Wing Facts on Sunday (November 10) night.

It is said there, dozens of Awami League activists, officials and members have been arrested from Dhaka on charges of mass murder, corruption and smuggling billions of dollars in the country on Sunday on the charge of planning subversive activities in the capital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police issued a statement in this regard. They were carrying Donald Trump posters because fugitive Awami League leader Sheikh Hasina had ordered her supporters to carry them and use them as a shield against arrest, it said. The detainees told the police that they did not follow US politics, but only carried the Trump posters on Hasina's orders.

The press wing also reported that some Indian newspapers have aggressively misrepresented the student-led mass uprising since Sheikh Hasina was ousted in August following an unprecedented revolution.

They have greatly exaggerated the incidents of violence against minorities in the post-revolutionary days. They have similarly exaggerated the arrest of Awami League supporters today.
