Jumbangla Desk: In Devidwar, Comilla, a child has been accused of being raped by calling her to her house with the lure of giving her a piece of cake. The accused Gautam Debnath has been arrested by the police.

He was sent to jail by the court on Saturday. The accused is a resident of a village in Allahabad union. A carpenter by profession.

Locals said that last Friday at around 10 am, Gautam Debnath found the 7-year-old child alone on his way to his neighbor's house to play, and called him to the house with the lure of giving him Chira. When the child did not want to go home, Gautam took her in his arms and raped her. She returns home and tells everything to her mother. His parents rushed him to Devidwar Upazila Health Complex. The doctor gave first aid and sent him to Comilla Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. The child is under treatment at the OCC department there.

The child's mother said, 'When my daughter went to play in the neighboring house, the carpenter Gautam took her inside and raped her. His wife and children were not at home at that time. That bigotry ruined my daughter's life. I want him severely punished.'

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Debidwar police station Khaled Saifullah said that the accused Gautam Debnath was arrested on Friday night when the child's father complained to the police station . Accused admitted the charge during preliminary interrogation. The child's medical examination is going on.
