Jumbangla Desk: The students of Jagannath University (JUB) are holding a sit-in program by surrounding the Ministry of Education with five-point demands, including handing over the work of the second campus to the army. Student Tamjid Hossain said that despite Dhaka University having 21 halls, they have been brought under the pilot project. But the students of Jagannath University are deprived of all rights.

Why are we not added? Until we get our demands redressed, we will continue the program here.

Nausheen Nawar Jaya, a student of Life Chemistry and Anupran Department, said that halls are being constructed in various universities. We Jobians are lagging behind.

Our students have to do tutoring all day. Our demand is to give the second campus to the army. The hit scheme that UGC has taken up is discriminatory.

University student Tauseeb Mahmud Sohan, spokesperson of the movement, said, "We will give a three-day ultimatum to the Ministry of Education regarding our demands."

On the other hand, the branch student camp attended the movement by giving full support to this program of the students. Iqbal Hossain Shikder, president of the university's student camp, said that we have full support for any fair movement of students. We are directly involved in the movement today. The new campus should be handed over to the army to complete the work in an orderly manner. Also jobbers should be given priority in hit projects.

Their demands are:

1. Project directors appointed during dictatorship should be brought under the law and handed over to competent army officers within seven days.

2. The Ministry of Education should announce with specific outlines that the work of the second campus of Jagannath University has been handed over to the Army.

3. Immediate action should be taken to acquire the remaining 11 acres of land and cancel all agreements with the old campus during the dictatorial regime.

4. Jagannath University should be included in the recently announced pilot project by UGC.
