Dhaka-Mymensingh highway was cleared after 53 hours

Jumbangla Desk: Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Gazipur was cleared after long 53 hours. On Monday (November 11) around 2.30 pm, the workers lifted the blockade and traffic started.

Earlier Gazipur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Ershad Mia and army officials went to the spot and talked to the workers. Later, they lifted the blockade when the administration promised to settle the outstanding salary issue officially.

Sarwar Alam, Superintendent of Police of Gazipur Industrial Zone Police-2, said that the workers lifted the blockade when the government promised to pay the outstanding salary. Now traffic is normal on that highway.

Earlier, workers of a garment factory of T&Z group in Mogarkhal area of ​​Gazipur blocked the country's busiest Dhaka-Mymensingh highway to demand two months' salary arrears. This road is closed for 53 consecutive hours. The communication system through that road was almost cut off. As a result, the passengers and the vehicle drivers suffered terribly.
